STIHL Tirol is celebrating a very special anniversary on 26th February 2021. The company, then known as VIKING GmbH, was founded on this day exactly 40 years ago in the Austrian town of Kufstein. Another important milestone in the company's history was in 1992, when the Tyrolean company became a wholly owned subsidiary of the German STIHL Group. The product range was subsequently completely updated. In 2001, the company moved from Kufstein to Langkampfen. Since 2018, it has been trading as STIHL Tirol.
Since its foundation in 1981, the production site has developed into one of the largest and most important employers in the Tiroler Unterland region. In its first year, the company had 28 employees. Today, the dedication and commitment of over 700 people contribute to the company's success.
The product line has also been developed and expanded over the decades. In 1981, the initial products were garden shredders. Three years later, the first line of lawn mowers developed in-house rolled off the assembly line. Today, STIHL Tirol produces a large selection of cordless, petrol and electric garden products.
