Centre of excellence for ground-based gardening tools

Everything at our Langkampfen site has always pointed towards the future, innovation and further development. Founded under the name of VIKING in 1981, the company became a specialist for gardening tools and joined the international STIHL Group in 1992. Today, STIHL Tirol is a centre of excellence for ground-based gardening tools such as lawn mowers, robotic mowers, ride-on mowers, tillers and garden shredders. These tools are developed at our site in the Tiroler Unterland region and the company also specialises in the manufacture of battery-powered products.

At the Langkampfen site, over 887 motivated employees work on the international success of the renowned STIHL brand. In 2023, STIHL Tirol had a turnover of 953.3 million euros. A number of important projects were implemented in recent years and increased investment has been made in the location: in 2018, a new sub-development was built on an area of approximately 20,000 square metres. Additional areas were created for an apprentice workshop and the production of cordless tools. A green space on the roof serves as an in-house test area for STIHL iMOW® robotic mowers.

In 2019, the company opened a fully automated AutoStore warehouse. This small parts warehouse is one of the most modern of its kind, featuring 26 robots that store 57,000 containers and stack them in aluminium shafts. In September 2022, we opened our own plastics manufacturing facility on a site covering 3,500 m². This important milestone increases vertical integration, has many cost benefits, is sustainable and supports our climate strategy. In addition, 50 new jobs were created.
