On 8 May 2024, STIHL Tirol held its press conference on the 2023 financial year at its site in Langkampfen. Managing Director Jan Grigor Schubert and Commercial Manager Thilo Foersch reported on some major challenges. Global declines in sales due to the downturn in the extraordinary economic situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic, high inventory levels at retailers and unfavourable weather conditions in many places all impacted the garden tool industry. This was compounded by high inflation, rising interest rates and the associated low propensity to purchase. Nevertheless, numerous STIHL product groups such as cordless chainsaws, cordless hedge trimmers, cordless blowers, cordless lawn mowers and the new iMOW robotic mowers held their own on the market and were in high demand.
“Battery First” is the strategy, and the plant in Langkampfen is an important location for many of the cordless products made by the STIHL Group. As a result, STIHL Tirol continued to grow, increasing its turnover from 768.9 million euros in 2022 to 953.3 million euros. This corresponds to an increase of 24 percent. Additionally, the number of employees rose by 11 percent from 799 to 887. Thanks to effective recruitment measures, vacancies were significantly reduced.
